Cut out animations

Cut out animation is all about making movement/animation with paper cut outs. The animation itself is cut out shapes plasted on a flat surface and then moving the cutout and taking individual pictures of the motion. When played back this gives you the movement. Cut out animation is a different style than any of the others and can sometimes make the scene seem jerky rather than smooth. Cut out animations are commonly found in childrens programes such as Captain Pug Wash.

Captain Pug wash is a children's animated TV Series. They are filmed and made with cardboard cutouts in live action. Captain Pugwash was created by John Ryan

Here is a clip of one of the very first episodes of Captain pugwash.

Hedgehog in the Fog was release in October 23rd 1975 russian cutout animations. It was directed by Yuriy Norshteyn and written by Sergei Kozlov.

This is a small clip of an episode of HEdgehog in the fog.

For my cut out animation i will be using this head that i cut from a magazine and moving the eyes and the features on the image.

My Model animation

Today we all had to have a go at making our own Model based animation. I decided to create a character using Plastercine and then created a Pig. After making my character i then made a box of grass for the Pig to eat out of.

I made my animation but conecting a camera to the computer on hovering over the character in a sort of BIrds eye view look. I then had to slowly move the pig and the take an individual picture after each tiny movement. I repeated this as the Pig walked over to the grass. I then removed a tiny piece of grass each picture intill it was out of view. The Pig then left the frame. When playing back each photo together it looks like the character is moving.

Model based animation

Model based animation is again another version of stop motion animation. With model based its usually found that a model is made for the character for eaxmple plstercine, and then the model is slowly moved in each frame to create the illusion of movement. One of the most known model based animation is "Morph".

An example of Model Animation is "Morph".

Morth was produced by the BBC Aardman Animations who then went on to make the amazing Wallace and Gromit.

The Wallace and Gromit is a full length feature film make with Models.

The animation classic Wallace and Grommet was created with Model animation. Today I made a model out of plastercine of my own. I decided to make a pig.
