Time Lapse

A Time lapse is when you take a series of images over a certain amount of time. These images are then played back to make a moving image sequence. When making a Time lapse you have to plan the amount of time between each image.

Some people have created a time lapse where they take only one picture everyday over a years time.

This video time lapse was taken over a time period of 9 Months. A young couple became a Youtube hit when they uploaded a video they had made themselfs. The video shows the changes and growth of the body during pregnancy. The couple took a different photo everyday over the full pregnancy. This video is amazing as you can actaully see the everyday difference pregnancy has on your body.

This next animation was taken over of a time of 4 and a half hours and took place on December 21st 2010. It was taken by Kareem Brown as she shot the lunor Eclipse.

The best Time lapses are the ones taken over a long period of time this is because you see the best effects and changes throughout the video.

Pixalition

Pixilation is another form of stop motion animation its sort of like model based animation however intead of using cut outs or plastercine models its made with live people.

This technique came about a while ago back in 1952. It was created by a man called Norman McLaren who made a short film called "Neighbours".

I think people enjoy Pixilation animation because it is live people and if you were to make the models hover in the air for a long time it is more impressive than if you were to see a drawing animation do it.

Another example of Pixilation Animation is one that I found on the internet. I really enjoyed this video as i think it is very creative and unique to others i have seen. It is amazing because instead of only having one movement in the video there is loads of different things moving. Making this video must have taken a while and you can tell alot of work went into it.

This one is called "Her Morning Elegance" by Yuval and Merav Nathan.

Another one of Norman McLarens was an animation called Pas de Deux.

The choreography for this video was done so well that the ballet was able to get in the exact same position from the begining

Cell Based Animation

Cell based animation is the more traditional way of doing animation. Cell based is when you have to draw each frame from every scene by hand. You would have to have about a million drawings if you were going to make a full feature length film.

You would find that all the traditional and old animations for example 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'Snow White' and 'Dumbo' were all made by Cell Based Animation.

Beauty and the Beast

Snow White

If i were to make my own Cell based animation I would have to be prepared to be making it for quite a while. This is probably the hardest type of animation out there.
